In 1880, William Semple Bissell hired Joseph Stillburg to design a corner store building at Smithfield Street and 7th Avenue in Pittsburgh. The cost was $36,000.

Personal Collection - Sketch bought via Etsy from stcroixarchitecture (highly recommend!).

The Bissell Building supposedly had the first elevator installed in Pittsburgh according to a 1939 article.

By 1915, architect E. B. Lee made plans to replace the Bissell Building for the Oliver Estate. The building housed the Chamber of Commerce and is still present today (411 Seventh Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219).
